Monza R/T

Four hundred gob smacking kilowatts is just another incredible concept that has been made apparent from HDT’s headquarters in Sydney. After seeing one of the cars in the flesh in the HDT Workshops I can tell you it is one hell of a machine. The R/T car, which is built on top of the successful Monaro platform, is primarily intended for track purposes, but it is also a road car, with a variety of optional extras that go on top of the existing 2004 model HDT Monza package (the name coming from the original 1980’s Peter Brock Monza coupe).

For starters if you are after a mind blowing performance fix, good enough to make play with euro supercars, HDT offer the car in many different stages with a smorgasbord of engine upgrades. Originally the standard Monza package offers a 255-295kw power upgrade over the standard LS1 available however the R/T version offers a massive 365kw with 400kw on tap depending on how large your chequebook happens to be.

Secondly with power being a major upgrade form standard, naturally the brakes cop a makeover too with HDT specific racing pads which grip the massive HDT 356mm rotors up front and 343 mm rotors down the back. Additionally there are ‘pick and choose’ upgrades on the rotors which can go up to 381mm.

Now with this in mind HDT then go full on with the suspension package comprising of HDT springs and bilstein gas dampers right the way round then there is the IRS bush kit to allow adjustment of the camber and castor with a strut brace optional. On the outside you can go the standard Monza kit or got he whole hog with an adjustable aero foil wing and improved bodykit pieces. Specifications on the R/T are listed below:
